Somatic Astrology

Rooted in the liminal space where land and body meet the celestial and ancestral realms, this astrology seeks to remember the ancient relationships between the stars, the land, our bodies and our ancestors. Countering the fragmenting of our collective power by colonial forces, this astrology seeks to offer resistance through re-connection that moves us towards more presence, aliveness and grounded action that is in right relationship with past, present and future. It is an astrology that is inherently queer and trans in its capacity to hold grief, transformation, liminality, celebration, euphoria, and embody many truths. It is an honor to be learning daily through this practice and sharing this work with my community near and far brings me immense joy.

All of my offerings for readings (scroll down to see them) are held by the above sentiment and though I offer an array of different options for readings, spanning from more basic (but very important!) solar return readings to ancestral guidance, family of origin readings and body oracle readings, all readings are done in deep conversation with ancestral guides, the body of the person I’m reading for, and the lands where that person was born, currently resides and often their ancestral homelands. I make an altar for each person I read for with sacred objects I feel the chart and guides are asking for. I see transits as being visited by a planetary ancestor or configuration of ancestors, many of whom are inviting us into a process of change or rite of passage for which we can feel into embodied movement, ceremony or ritual practice that may correspond for each transit inside of that person’s life.

What brought me here

When I began to study somatics over 10 years ago, I loved what I was learning but noticed that there was a lack of spiritual grounding in practices that felt so sacred to me. I also had a lot of embodied experiences with my ancestors, and relationship to cultural imprints that were not discussed in most somatics modalities. As a queer person, I have used astrology as an archetypal and storied language to help me understand myself, the drama of the world around me, and my family system for decades and to leave this map out also felt disorienting. As I began to more deeply connect with astrological knowing and ancestral remembrance practices and felt where they naturally fit within embodied healing work, the work began to feel more whole. This is of course their natural state of being: flowing through one another, rather than siloed. To bring awareness to the ways that the movement of the planets and their stories lived in my body’s experiences throughout my life and the ways my ancestors’ presence was made known in my chart brought a different level of richness to this work and echoed in my cells like a deep knowing, a remembering.

Lineages of Knowledge and Astrological Study

I have been studying astrology with Renee Sills of Embodied Astrology (EA) since 2021 and last year completed the Your Chart is a Body Certificate Program, which is an intensive two-year program that brings together astrological chart reading and somatic embodiment practices. I am grateful for all I’ve learned from Renee and others at EA about the intersections of astrology, somatics and spiritual/creative practice. As a SWANA person, the more ancient lineages of astrology live in my bones and live on in my culture. Sumerian and Mesopotamian mythology on top of the more well-known Roman and Greek achetypes and stories inform my work and I am always looking to find the stories that my ancestors have been telling for thousands of years that inform the way we collectively orient to and move through these times.
